11 Dog Breeds Most Likely to Have Heart Failure

4. Labrador Retriever

Labrador Retriever

Although Labrador Retrievers have few health issues, heart failure is, unfortunately, one of them. They may suffer from myocardial failure which tends to weaken the heart muscles. As a result, the heart fails to circulate and push the blood through properly.

5. Doberman Pincher

Doberman Pincher

Another breed suffering from myocardial failure is the Doberman Pincher. One of the surest signs the dogs and puppies of this breed are likely to have heart failure is an enlarged heart which can be observed on an X-ray. This is due to the fact that blood does not go through the heart properly.

6. Irish Wolfhound

Irish Wolfhound

This gentle and dignified breed is unfortunately subject to the same symptoms of dog heart disease as Doberman Pincher caused by the myocardial failure. Poor blood circulation through the heart causes pressure in the lungs and can even lead to a liver failure.
